When my oldest and dearest friend visited a few weeks ago, I took a moment to admire her rented VW Beetle in the driveway. I may very well have to test drive on as part of the Great Compact Car Search of 2014!

I’m loving this corner of the master bedroom. The blue wing back chair and matching ottoman (Craigslist finds from years ago) seem inviting in that “grab a book and settle in” kind of way. The painting, a new acquisition for our friend Bernard’s estate, mimics the view from the bedroom windows. I picture myself sitting here on a snowy winter day, a hot toddy resting on the table and the throw warming my lap.
